We were the proud hosts of the Squirt Boy's Provincials JULY 3, 4, 5 2009
The winners for the C division:
First place Gold Medal winners: Prince George Houle Electric Timberwolves Coached by Bill Ollinger, Garret Murphy and Tarissa Boulding.
The final game against Richmond went a long 7 innings…about 2 hours! What a great game!
Second place Silver Medal winners: Richmond Rangers coached by Bill Merrell and Rob McRae
Third place Bronze Medal winners: Fleetwood Road Runners coached by Brian Sask, Jill Sask and Jamie Wood

2008 President's Report
2008 was a tremendous season for Whalley Minor Fastpitch.
We got a new name, a new logo and new life in the association!
Here are a few highlights of the season:
- All of our teams got new uniforms and some new equipment this year. They looked great on the field
- Our practice clinic last winter an early spring was such a success we were overcrowded! We've booked more gyms for next year
- Our opening ceremonies were the best ever with a fun kids carnival and prizes and games - if the rain hadn't come there would have been games as well - lots of great comments from parents
- Our first year of running learn to play was a success even though we lost a few players during the season but I think the ones who stayed had fun and will hopefully continue with the sport
- Our park was full almost every day of the season and there is no longer a fear of the city removing one of our diamonds
- We held 5 successful tournaments this season and had our very first mini mite tournament. Our tournaments are respected by the softball community as being well run and everyone loves our park
- Our concession was busy and we made a great profit compared to the last few years
- Our fundraiser pub night was well attended and raised over $4,500 to help pay for the new uniforms and equipment for the kids
- Our new umpires learned the game our coaches were patient and a big thank you to Mark Downton for taking on the job of UIC for us as well as Guildford
- We held districts in our park for the B girls and Mite boys and survived! Our Whalley Warriors Mite boys took silver so placed second in the district
- Our Whalley Warriors Peewee boys team will be representing us at the Provincial finals in Richmond in July good luck to the boys but mostly, have fun!
- The Junior Ladies team called Whalley Extreme that played in our park is going to compete in Provincials under the Whalley name and may be going to compete at the Western Canadian Finals in Saskatchewan
- The Whalley Blues Senior team coached by Jeff Snowdon will also compete at Provincials under the Whalley banner
A very special thank you goes out to our retiring Vice President, Jeff Snowdon for his many years of hard work, coaching and volunteering in Whalley. We'll miss you Jeff.
Also, thank you to all of the executive but especially to Scott Hendrickson and Karen Hefferland for their support and tremendous hard work in keeping this association going and moving forward.

Fastball is Softball
What is FASTBALL
Fastball, also sometimes referred to as fastpitch, is the boys and men's version of Softball, the largest participation sport in North America with over 40 million players.
Fastball has been around for over 120 years and is often called the game for life, being played by five year olds to 75 year olds.
Fastball is played in over 100 Countries, (Canada, USA, Japan, Australia New Zealand and Europe being the most active).
It is the official ball game of the US Airforce with major tournaments held every year throughout the world.
Fastball offers more fun & excitement for the youth players. The larger diameter ball is hit more often. The shorter base distances means more action in the diamond.
At the top competitive level in at the World Championships the pitching has NO EQUAL. A batter facing an 80 mph windmill pitch coming from 46 feet has 3/10th of a second to react. (In Baseball the batter has over 4/10th of a second or 25 % longer to react)
Many famous professional athletes like Wayne Gretsky,
Patrick Roy and even major league batting champ, Larry Walker, played
fastball.
